uPhotoMeasure Description
If you’ve been using a computer for a few more activities than those related to social networks, then you’re surely aware of its capabilities. Accuracy is a key element and this quickly gave birth to applications that are specialized in calculus or measurements, just like uPhotoMeasure.
Specify initial project details
After a short time spent installing it, ready a few photos to test it out. All features are stored in a rather compact window, but this is not an issue since you can resize it or even maximize the window. The center area is the interactive canvas, where you get to set measurement details, which are then shown in a side panel.
Sadly, you can’t just drag the pictures you want to measure over the main window, so you need to rely on the open dialog. When this is done, the application considers you want to start a new project, and also asks you to give it at least a name. Other than that, you can specify budget, phone, email address, and several details related to how details are shown.
Set measuring area and export results
The application doesn’t just measure a distance or area in a given picture. Its core function is to target mechanical or special objects inside pictures, so be sure you load a clear image. The zone needs to be specified, either by drawing a rectangle or circle, after which you can add lines.
Some solid configuring needs to be done, because there’s a high change objects are not detected. Luckily, you can rotate, pan, and zoom the image for better configuration of each area or line.
When you’re done, the application can save the project to a specific format that lets you process it again later on. In addition, you can save all measurements under the XLS format, or the picture with all indications as a plain JPG image.
To sum it up
Bottom line is that uPhotoMeasure is not your average measurement application, packed with an algorithm that specializes in construction and other areas where accuracy is key. Some time and effort need to be invested in the whole operation, with the possibility to extract the results you need under a few different file types.
