UrlHistory Description
Most web browsers usually provide options through which to save favorite web pages so you can quickly access them later on. As an alternative, UrlHistory comes as a small tray utility which constantly monitors your clipboard, detecting web links, and saving them in a clean list you can export, or use to quickly jump to specific pages.
Perks of portability
On the one hand, the application skips you the whole effort needed to go through a setup process to make it work. This enables you to take it on a USB flash drive and have all links ready, regardless of the computer you use it on. Moreover, system registries remain intact during use, thus not affecting stability of the target PC.
The application stays in the tray area the entire time, so it doesn’t take up any precious desktop space. As soon as you copy a link, a prompt shows up so you can add a description, making identification easier in the list. By default, the tab title, and browser name are grabbed, but you can change it according to your preferences.
Launch favorite pages from the tray area
All links you copy are saved in a list, which is visible in the tray menu, and constantly grows as you add more. There’s an initial limit of 20 links, but accessing the settings page lets you increase, or decrease the number. Although management of settings is done from an INI file, all fields are neatly explained, so you don’t end up scratching your head.
Even after exiting the application, links are saved, and made available the next time you run the application, which perfectly goes hand-in-hand with portability. URLs can be modified, this too being done in a plain text editor, thus allowing you to export the list as TXT or RTF.
A few last words
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that UrlHistory is a neat alternative of accessing your favorite web pages, without having to open up the web browser first. Portability is a major advantage here, allowing you to take all items with you, and launching them in the default web browser configured for the target PC.
