UTFCast

UTFCast is a straightforward and simple-to-use piece of software that allows you to convert multiple text files into UTF-8 encoding mode at the same time.
It does not contain complex options or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all types of users.

Simple setup and interface

The installation procedure is a fast and easy job that shouldn't impose any difficulties, thanks to the fact that it contains familiar options. As far as the interface is concerned, UTFCast is user-friendly.
It consists of a large window with a plain and simple structure, where you can point out the source directory whose text files to automatically take into account for processing, and indicate the output folder.

Batch convert text files to UTF-8 encoding

It is possible to enable recursive and detect-only mode, as well as ask UTFCast to copy unconverted files. The file list shows the full path, encoding mode, and status for each file in the list, while the status bar displays the total number of found files, binary, unknown, converted and copied files.

Evaluation and conclusion

There were no kind of issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that UTFCast did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It has a good response time and minimal impact on PC performance, since it runs on a low amount of CPU and RAM.
