Video Conversion Expert

Video Conversion Expert is a simple-to-use program which allows you to convert, split and join video files of various formats, including AVI, MPG, RM and WMA.
The interface of the application is based on a standard window in which you can get started by selecting the processing mode - conversion, trimming or merging. Video clips can be imported by using the file browser only, because the "drag and drop" method is not supported.
In case of conversion, you can select the output format between DVD, AVI, VCD, SVCD and MPEG, specify the output filename and directory, as well as configure audio and video settings regarding the codec, size, frame rate, TV format, quality, and others.
If you want to split a file, you can do so by marking the start and end time values, as well as cut audio tracks into equal-sized parts. The merging process is quite intuitive.
In the list you can check out the source and output path, output format, task type, status and duration of each file. During the process you can check out a progress bar, overall status, elapsed and remaining time, as well as enable Video Conversion Expert to automatically turn off the computer afterward.
The video processing application requires a moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time, quickly finishes a task, includes a brief help file for novices and didn't freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests. On the other hand, its interface is outdated and it doesn't do a very good job when it comes to maintaining the image and sound quality. We recommend Video Conversion Expert with reservations.
