Video To Gif Description

In the world of social networks and entertainment, one file format in particular managed to capture the trend. The format in question is GIF, known to hold short animations which can play without having to press a single button. To create such animated slideshows, Video To Gif can help generate them from existing videos.

Visual design, and file support

The visual design is pretty intuitive, and doesn’t pose any accommodation problems. All functions you get to work with are in plain sight, including a preview area to help you pick the exact spot of the video to crop. Sadly, loading a video can’t be done through drag and drop, but using the built-in dialog isn’t complicated either. Note that .NET Framework is required for the application to properly function.
File support is decent, and you can load some popular formats such as AVI, WEBM, WMV, MP4, MKV, FLV, RM, RMVB, MPG, and MOV. Only one file can be processed at a time, but this isn’t an inconvenience, since you get to spend time picking the exact part to convert, and how to grab frames.

Adjust trim area, and framerate settings

Although there’s a progress slider, the application is not fitted with a set of playback controls, and the only way to get anything out of the preview area is by updating static images from start and end points. These can easily be defined by moving indicators on the progress slider, or manually writing values in the appropriate fields.
Apart from length, you can choose how frames are processed as well. This is selected from a drop-down menu, which can use every custom number of frames instead of all of them in order to reduce output file size.
There’s also a manual input field for frames per second. The higher the value, the faster the video plays, and the more quality there is. Output video can also be resized, this being done through a dedicated percentage slider. Output file is always generated in the same folder as the source.

In conclusion

To sum it up, Video To Gif is a lightweight, but practical application which is sure to grab the exact portion of a specific video, and convert it to GIF. Sure enough, quality mostly depends on the input video, but you do get a certain degree of control over framerate, and output size specifications.
