VideoMonitor Description
VideoMonitor is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you capture images from various video devices, such as webcams and USB cameras, and record video streams. The utility is able to work with multiple webcams at the same time, more specifically with up to 36.
Simple layout
There’s no support for a help manual so you need to experiment with the dedicated parameters in order to get an idea of how the application works.
The tool reveals a plain design that allows you to monitor a single or multiple webcams directly in the main window. The video devices are grouped into four categories, nine per group.
In addition, you can enable four, six or nine previews directly in the main panel, and activate the full screen display. VideoMonitor embeds nine dedicated buttons in the main window for helping you quickly preview a certain webcam.
A few configuration settings
VideoMonitor gives you the possibility to export the video recordings to WMV file format, while the screenshots can be saved to BMP files. Plus, you can activate a snapshot timer and make the application automatically take screenshots at a certain time (in seconds).
You are allowed to choose the saving directories where the videos and images are stored, compress video files so they do not eat up a lot of space on the disk, and set camera names.
Other important options worth being mentioned enable you to run the utility at Windows startup and start it minimized, get notifications upon new versions, and manage the groups of webcams.
Final words
In conclusion, VideoMonitor provides a basic suite of features for helping you monitor and capture videos or still frames from multiple video cameras. On the downside, you cannot upload the files via FTP connections and detect movement.
