Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover Description

Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover is an application that removes the overlay arrow from the shortcuts on your desktop. It’s not an application of ultimate necessity, but rather a fun way to personalize the look and feel of the screen.
Windows Vista comes with a lot of customization options, but there’s no native way to handle the appearance of the shortcuts (except zoom). Even though it doesn’t make it a lesser OS, it wouldn’t have harmed anyone to implement such a feature. However, there’s at least one way to accomplish this task and its name is Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover.
Even though its name suggests it works only on Vista, it seems to perform just fine on Windows 7 too, so fans of the latter operating system can enjoy its functionality as well. Both beginners and advanced users should have no trouble in managing it.
After a quick installation process, the application places a shortcut on the desktop; launch it and you get acquainted with the program’s main and only window. Options are not overwhelming, but not poor either.
There are four main arrow modes, if we may call them that. You’ve got the standard arrow (with the purpose to restore the default Windows arrows after you’ve explored the others), a light one (smaller and with a slightly different kind of blue), custom arrow (you can select your own picture to be displayed on top of the shortcuts – only in ICO format) and last, but not least – no arrow (removes completely the overlay arrows).
Switching between arrow modes requires a computer log off for the changes to take effect. Another option allows you to remove the “- Shorcut” text extension when new shortcuts are created.
All in all, Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover is user-friendly and easy to work with. Its compatibility with Windows 7 makes it all the more valuable.
