VNCPassView Description
VNCPassView is a feather-light and portable software program that allows you to swiftly retrieve lost or forgotten passwords to VNC, the remote control application. It doesn't integrate complicated options or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all kinds of users.
No installation required
Since the app's wrapped in a portable package, you can drop its files anywhere on the hard drive and just click the executable to launch VNCPassView. Another option is to keep it stored on a USB flash drive, in order to directly run it on any computer with minimum effort. Unlike most installers, it doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry.
Simple interface and options
The GUI is represented by a standard frame with a clear-cut structure, where the VNC passwords are immediately shown at startup, thanks to the fact that VNCPassView automatically scans the tool for the keys.
View and save VNC passwords
You can check out the type and version of each password, copy selected entries to the Clipboard, or export them to file for closer inspection. The utility also lets you show grid lines as well as compile HTML reports with all or just selected items from the list. There are no other noteworthy options available here.
Evaluation and conclusion
There were no issues in our tests, since the program didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. Unsurprisingly, it didn't hog system resources, since it needed low CPU and memory to work properly.
All in all, VNCPassView serves its purpose, offering you a simple and effective method to discovering VNC passwords, and it can be seamlessly used by anyone.
