Web 2 Cam is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you publish your webcams online using a built-in HTTP server.

Portable utility

Gaining access to the program’s settings requires only opening the executable file (you don’t have to follow the steps included in an installation process).
What’s more, you can drop it on USB flash drives or other portable devices to have it with you all the time. It does not write entries in your Windows registry so you can uninstall it using a simple deletion task.

User interface

The tool does not impress much in the visual department. It gathers all configuration settings in a single panel which looks crowded and confusing. There’s no support for a help manual, only some short descriptions about the utility’s capabilities.

Configuration settings

Web 2 Cam gives you the possibility to choose the target video device from a list. You are given the freedom to apply several adjustments related to format, source, display, and compression.
In order to check out the video streams, you need to open your web browser and enter the target address. What’s more, the application lets you start or stop the webcam, enable or disable the HTTP server, enter the port number, and specify the refresh rate.
Other important settings worth being mentioned enable you adjust the number of frames per second, overlay or stretch the video, reopen the drive, as well as make the main window remain on top of other panels.

Bottom line

All things considered, Web 2 Cam can be used for quickly publishing your webcam online without having to go through complex configuration settings. However, the GUI still needs improvements to make the entire process more intuitive. It hasn’t been updated for a while so you may bump into compatibility issues on newer operating systems like Windows 8.1.
