WifiSpot provides you with a rather straightforward application software to help you quickly and easily set up a wireless access point for devices to connect to right on your computer.
For starters, wireless connections does not always include a router and a wireless-enabled device. Wireless access points can also be created using smartphones or laptops. In order to achieve that, the device utilizes its wireless antenna to broadcast signal, reversing the process that we are all aware of.
Of course, you can also make your desktop PC into an access point by attaching a wireless card to it. No matter your preferences, the device you want to turn into a WiFi hotspot must already be connected to the Internet through cable or any other type of connection, other than wireless.
Generally, this is the job for specialized software, such as Connectify; however, it is not the only application within its category. WifiSpot is a much simpler, much lighter computer program that promises to deliver the core of what Connectify manages to deliver. Its drastically elementary graphical user interface makes you wonder if this utility might even work.
It all goes down to whether WifiSpot is really doing what it is supposed to or not, and here the opinions are both good and bad. While some users might have luck in starting the hotspot and actually using it, others do not seem to be able to start it at all. In our case, the application starts, so does the hotspot, but the program does not show that it does, thus there is no Internet on the wireless connection.
All in all, WifiSpot can still be upgraded to a more mature version that fixes the current bugs and corrects other aspects of its functionality to really be able to stand a chance within its category, as there are many applications that successfully serve users, while not being popular. With a bit of tinkering, WifiSpot can become one of those apps. Other than that, it is only a matter of pure luck.
