WinCleaner AntiSpyware Description
WinCleaner AntiSpyware is a small Windows application that features real-time protection and automatic monitoring system in order to protect your computer from spyware and adware.
User interface
The GUI is not one of the most good-looking and modern ones but it presents a well-structured suite of features. The Welcome page is responsible for informing you about the tool’s protection shields and tips about how to get started.
An online help manual is available in case you do not manage to decode the program’s settings on your own. The spyware shields can be easily activated or deactivated with a single click.
Scanning options and quarantined items
WinCleaner AntiSpyware gives you the option to choose between a fast and full system scan mode. The latter one is more powerful than the first option because it scans your system thoroughly but you should know it takes longer to complete the task.
The tool eats up a moderate amount of system resources and reveals results about the total number of detected processes, registry keys/values, and files. A summary report reveals data about the total number of processed files, known spyware signatures, and quarantined items.
What’s more, you can report malware by submitting a report for analysis to find potential spyware on your computer and include the new information in a future WinCleaner AntiSpyware database update.
You can restore or delete items from the quarantine and check for spyware signature updates. During our tests the program failed to update the signature database due to connection errors.
Shields, logs and general configuration settings
WinCleaner AntiSpyware helps you enable or disable a multitude of registry and file shields, and view information about logged events. You can run the utility at Windows startup and activate the protection mode, as well as set IE start and search pages and protect them from being changed.
Conclusion
WinCleaner AntiSpyware aims at securing your system against spyware and malware but it is not capable of doing it because the signature database cannot be updated. Although it comes with real-time protection shields, you are not protected from the latest threats.
