WindChill Description
WindChill is a small software program whose purpose is to help you calculate the approximate temperature for a given wind speed.
Why portable apps are easy to handle
You can take advantage of the tool’s portability status and drop it on USB flash drives or other portable devices. In addition, you can gain access to its GUI by running the executable file (there’s no setup that you need to follow).
It does not store entries in your Windows registry so you can get rid of it using a simple deletion task. You can run it without administrative privileges.
Clean layout
WindChill gathers all configuration parameters in a single panel so they are basically placed at your fingertips. There’s no support for a help manual, only a ‘Readme’ file that includes basic information about the application’s capabilities. However, the utility shows details about the formula used for performing the calculations.
Calculation parameters
You can estimate the temperature value by providing information about the temperature, wind speed, skin temperature, baseline wind speed, and constants. What’s more, you can make WindChill display the results in Celsius, Kelvin, Fahrenheit or Reaumur.
The result is automatically shown in the main panel and you may copy it to the clipboard for transferring data into other third-party programs.
On the downside, the utility does not offer support for an easy way for clearing the entire workspace. However, if you change any of the setup parameters, the final result is automatically refreshed in the main window.
Tests have shown that WindChill carries out a task quickly and without errors. It does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
Bottom line
All things considered, WindChill delivers a simple software solution for helping you perform calculations related to the temperature value for a specific wind speed, and can be mastered by beginners and professionals alike.
