Windows Boot timer Description
Windows Boot timer is a tiny and portable utility that calculates the time it takes your system to boot, as the name implies. It comes in handy when you want to find out whether you need to disable autorun apps to improve startup speed or not..
As installation is not a requirement, you can drop the executable file anywhere on the HDD and click it to run. It is also possible to move Windows Boot timer to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to test any machine with minimum effort.
What's more, the app does not add new values to the Windows registry, entries to the Start menu, or files to any location on the hard disk. A standard file deletion is enough to eliminate the program.
At initialization, Windows Boot timer pops up a small dialog (and a Command Prompt window) where it asks for permission to restart the computer and evaluate boot time. If you do not agree, the app will perform this task automatically at the next startup.
Windows Boot timer measures the time taken for Windows to be initialized, but doesn't take into account BIOS passwords or time spent going through BIOS settings. It opens a command-line dialog where it calculates boot time.
This task may take a while, during which it is highly recommend to leave the keyboard and mouse unattended to get the best results. Once it finishes, Windows Boot timer shows a small message dialog with the boot time (in seconds and milliseconds).
In conclusion, Windows Boot timer does not integrate options or configuration parameters, but it offers a very simple solution to evaluating Windows startup time, while using low system resources.
