WinMD5

WinMD5 is a lightweight and portable software application that calculates the MD5 signature of a file.
It comes in handy when you plan on downloading large-sized files, since you can verify their integrity beforehand and make sure they are not fake.
Since installation is not necessary, you can simply drop the program files on any location of the hard drive and directly run the executable file.
As an alternative, you can copy WinMD5 to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit and run it on any computer. What must be mentioned is that Windows Registry does not receive entry updates, and no files are left behind on the hard drive after removing the app. Plus, you can keep WinMD5 in your pocket whenever you're on the move.
The tool's wrapped in a standard interface with a simple layout. Loading a file into the workspace is done by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" function. WinMD5 automatically calculates and displays the items's hash, along with the size (in bytes) and status.
Furthermore, you can open a secondary file (MD5SUM or MD5 format) and compare the hashes, save a file to the MD5 format (with or without directory information), copy the hash to the Clipboard, as well as make the frame stay on top of other windows.
The straightforward program is low-demanding when it comes to the system resources, since it barely uses CPU and system memory. It has a good response time and quickly finds out the MD5 checksum of a file. We have not been alerted of any errors throughout our evaluation and WinMD5 did not hang or crash. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, WinMD5 can be handled by both novices and skilled users.
