Word Generator Description
Finding your words is always hard, and chances are you don’t have a lot of time to think it through. Having to deal with computer tasks though, might save the day, because there’s almost always “an app for thatâ€. As the name suggests, Word Generator wants to help you build new words from an existing list.
Can be used on the go
The application doesn’t really rely on a specific operating system to function, but the computer you use it on does need to be fitted with Java Runtime Environment. What’s more, there’s no setup involved, allowing you to easily carry it around on a thumb drive in case you want to use it on the spot, regardless of the PC you’re working on.
Truth be told, the application’s design is a little ambiguous, and it can take you a while to figure out how everything works. There’s an incredibly compact window, with more space taken by the file menu and title bar than the actual display of results. This isn’t really an inconvenience, because there’s the possibility to export all generated words to file.
No readable words generated
However, for everything to be in order, you first need to load a source TXT file. There isn’t really a particular content requirement, but the more words inside the source, the better. By default, up to ten words are displayed, with an easy set of controls to navigate through them.
The application helps you define specific generator elements, such as the total number of words to create, or length of words. Sadly, the generator process only grabs random letters and attempts to compose words, but almost none of them are actual words, which has a considerable impact on overall practicality.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Word Generator does indeed create words, but only if you want to invent your own language. Sadly, there’s no actual dictionary to the whole thing, and even if you do load a proper source file, output words are still a random selection of characters.
