Word Highlighter Description

Having to work with large text amounts on a daily basis is not an easy task, especially if you need to periodically look for, or avoid specific strings. However, if the word processor you’re using isn’t fitted with a search function, or it’s too difficult to use, Word Highlighter can help you easily spot all custom entries in a target document.

Can be used on the go

On the one hand, the application doesn’t require setup in order to function, so you can run it as soon as download is done. This makes it possible to carry it on a thumb drive in case you need to use it on other PCs. On the other hand, the computer you use it on needs to be equipped with Java Runtime Environment for everything to work as intended.
You might end up scratching your head for a while before you figure out why text from the imported document isn’t displayed in the preview area. This is only because the text file you load needs to be the dictionary file, based on which words are highlighted.

Load the dictionary file and paste target text

As such, it’s a good idea to first create a plain text document and enlist all words of interest. For things to work out, every word needs to be placed on an individual line. It’s also possible to create other types of documents as long as character encoding is done in UTF-8.
The next operation is to insert the target text. Unfortunately, there isn’t a dedicated load option or dialog for this step, and drag and drop isn’t supported either. Input needs to be manually done by writing text, or pasting. All detected words in the loaded document are highlighted on the spot, but all of them with the same color.

On an ending note

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Word Highlighter helps you identify various text strings inside a text document with little effort. It can take a while to build the dictionary file, and it’s a shame there’s no dedicated load option for the target text file. However, it serves as a batch search function, and is sure to come in handy.
