WPCREDIT

WPCREDIT is a lightweight and portable software application that gives you the possibility to modify the PCI Configuration Register. For example, it can be used for editing various chip sets, since their settings are saved in different files.

No installation necessary

There is no setup pack involved, so you can extract the program files to any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to run. Another possibility is to copy WPCREDIT to a pen drive or other removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC effortlessly and without previously installing anything.
What's more, unlike most uninstallers, it does not modify Windows registry settings or create extra files on the disk without your permission, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal.

Simple-to-use interface and options

The GUI is clearly outdated, yet simple to navigate. It is possible to view various information for the PCI Configuration Register, such as PCI bus, device, function, vendor and device ID, and revision.
Its hexadecimal code is shown in the main frame and you can jump to any offset to modify its value. Specific devices can be easily selected from a list, and it is possible to view structure details, such as command, status, base and sub class, cache line size, latency timer, header type and bit self test. Data can be saved and copied to the Clipboard.

Evaluation and conclusion

WPCREDIT has not been updated for a very long time and it does not work on later Windows editions. It has a good response time, though, and it runs on low CPU and RAM, so it shouldn't hamper system performance. All in all, WPCREDIT might come in handy to users of older Windows.
