WSQ viewer Description
Image files are found under a large variety of formats that want to provide better quality, take up less space and include different info. However, not every viewer is capable of processing most types of files and this is where applications like WSQ viewer come in handy and aim to help you view pictures in a simple, and highly-compatible environment.
Visuals design and file support
Running the application brings up an incredibly simple and clean interface that poses no accommodation problems whatsoever. All tools and functions are stored in the menu bar so that all the space lets you comfortably view any imported images.
Don't rush to drag target files over the main window, because it's in vain. Import is done through the open dialog, where you can also view the breathtaking amount of supported formats, such as WSQ, TIFF, BMP, TIF, JPEG, JPG, JPE, PNG, GIF, PSP, JFIF, RLE, DIB, TGA, WIN, VST, VDA, ICB, FAX, EPS, PCX, PCC, SCR, PIC, and a lot more. You only need to select a single file, with the source directory being automatically loaded.
Powerful integrated image converter
Sadly, there's no browser panel implemented, nor can you bring one up. Scrolling through pictures is done with the help of hotkeys, which are not arrow keys, but the page up and down buttons. What you can place on your workspace is a tool dedicated to zooming. Besides plus and minus values, you can fit the image to your screen, or simply zoom in at a specific point according to a multiplier slider you can manage.
What's more, the application is strictly dedicated to view and analysis, with no built-in editing functions whatsoever. However, the toolbox manages to hold a neat surprise, namely a converter. It brings up a small window with which you can specify target formats from the ones mentioned above, both for input and output, as well as quality and destination, with the process done in a jiffy and for more files at a time.
In conclusion
All in all, WSQ viewer is a lightweight and straightforward application with which you can view image files of almost any kind possible. Although there aren't any editing options or more variety in viewing, such as a slideshow, the built-in converter manages to tip the scales in its favor, making it worth at least a try overall.
