xCHM

xCHM represents a file viewer for users who want to read HTML help files (CHM). It can be easily handled by users with no experience in this kind of software applications.
The program does not come with an installation package, so that makes xCHM portable. It means that you can store the tool on a USB flash drive or any other similar device, save it to any computer and directly run its executable file.
This way, the Windows Registry does not receive unwanted entries, and files are not left behind on the hard drive when removing the tool. Plus, you can carry xCHM in your pocket whenever you're on the go.
The interface of the tool is familiar and easy to navigate through. Opening a CHM file is possible with the help of the file browser, since the 'drag and drop' function is not supported.
Besides the main information provided by the respective file, you can also view a list of contents and an index, as well as use a search function to locate a particular part of the text. xCHM supports the standard copy function and allows you to go back and forward through the pages, as well as to change the font when it comes to the type, family and size. Plus, you can add bookmarks and print pages.
The simple-to-use application requires a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, is very responsive to commands and worked properly during our tests, without causing us any problems. We haven't come across any error dialogs and xCHM did not freeze or crash. The simplicity of the tool should mainly appeal to first-time users. Unfortunately, no recent updates have been made.
