Ze Converter

Ze Converter is a simple-to-use application that allows you to turn audio files (e.g. AAC, AC3, OGG, WAV, WMA) into MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, WAV and AAC.
But it can also extract the audio stream from video files (e.g. FLV, MKV) and save it to the aforementioned output formats.
The interface of the program is clean and intuitive. Audio tracks can be imported into the file queue by using either the file browser, folder tree or the "drag and drop" function. It is possible to convert multiple items at the same time.
The file list lets you find out the source name and extension, duration, audio properties and progress of each track. If you are satisfied with the default settings, then all you need to do is establish the output directory and file type, in order to proceed with the encoding task.
But, if you are an experienced user, then you might be interested in configuring audio settings when it comes to the bit rate, channel mode, variable bit rate, frequency and quality. Unfortunately, you cannot create new profiles or restore options to their default values.
Additionally, you can rip an audio CD, set Ze Converter to save items in the source file directory, change the interface language, as well as remove an entry from the list or clear the entire file queue.
The audio conversion app requires a moderate amount of system resources to finish a task in a short while. It has a good response time and outputs a good image and sound quality. No error dialogs have been displayed during our testing and Ze Converter did not freeze or crash.
On the downside, you cannot set the tool to turn off the computer automatically or to open the output directory after encoding. Furthermore, you cannot preview files in a built-in media player or specify the thread priority. There is no help file available.
