ZoneIDTrimmer Description
ZoneIDTrimmer is a simple to use tool designed to automatically detect and remove Zone.Identifier stream from files you download from the Internet or emails.
The tool can identify alternative information streams that Windows stored in downloaded files, either from websites or from email attachments.
The Zone.Identifier parameter is the Windows service that provides you with protection against unsafe attachments or downloads.
It can detect the file type as well as the source zone information, which can indicate whether an attachment is unsafe. The Windows tool can prevent the file from opening or display a warning before you can access it.
In many cases, however, Zone.Identifier can detect false alarms and block files that are, in fact, safe for your computer.
This is when ZoneIDTrimmer can help you, by removing the zone information from individual files and unblocking them. The tool is designed not to change the files’ contents, only to detect and erase the Zone.Identifier alternative data stream.
Installing ZoneIDTrimmer causes the files that contain Zone.Identifier alternative data streams to be marked with an exclamation sign.
The folders that host such files are also marked, in order for you to quickly identify them. In other words, ZoneIDTrimmer can automatically detect the files containing the undesirable data, as soon as it is installed on your PC.
ZoneIDTrimmer does not feature a GUI, instead it runs based on Command Line arguments and integrates a shortcut in the Windows Explorer context menu.
However, the option is not displayed in the context menu of files/folders that do not include the Zone.Identifier data.
All you need to do is right-click on the files/folders marked with the exclamation sign and select the ZoneIDTrimmer option. A notification window is displayed as soon as the process is finished, indicating its success or failure.System requirements.NET Framework 4.0
