ABPMediaPlayer Description

There’s a great variety of applications specialized for meeting most demands, be them in the form of entertainment. For instance, choosing a multimedia player is now just a matter of choice in number and depth of features, but if you’re looking for something to quickly lighted up your day, then ABPMediaPlayer might just work out.

A little rough around the edges

For starters, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your PC, otherwise the application doesn’t start. On the other hand, ABPMediaPlayer is portable, so you can always have a multimedia player on a thumb drive wherever you go. Since it only reads media files, registry entries remain intact, so the health status of your computer is not affected.
The visual design is a little rough, with elements and textures which don’t really seem to blend together. On top of that, the preview area and set of playback controls are similar to the ones found in Windows Media Player. Although the window can be resized, no elements except for the border are affected.

Leaves much to be desired

However, file support is decent, and you’re able to enjoy media content under formats like WMV, MPEG, MP3, 3GP, ASX, MOV, RM, VOB, MP4, and AVI. Adding them needs to be done through the browse dialog, after which they are displayed in the playlist editor. Unfortunately, there’s no possibility to interact with the playlist other than to select the song to play.
There’s a chance some files might not properly run, but this most likely depends on the codecs installed on your PC. If you do happen to play a movie, size of the preview area is an inconvenience, especially with no fullscreen mode.

A few last words

In conclusion, ABPMediaPlayer has a long road ahead before it becomes even half of what it wants to. The environment is pretty rough, with limited preview space. Playlists need to be created every time, and playback controls are only operable through the main window.
