Fortunately, there are many applications that could help you with that. One of them is Agenda. It's a neat software solution that comes packed with a small but useful calendar for creating events and setting reminders.

Simple and straightforward graphical interface

The application sports a really fluent and lightweight graphical interface that makes it easy to navigate through various sections of the program. It's available in multiple languages, including English, Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian or Turkish.
The neat thing about this application is that it has plenty of tips and instructions, which are also available in multiple languages.

Create events and tasks easily

It displays a calendar on the main window and allows you to navigate to various days and months if you want. You can adjust the font size and style, or enable some text effects, like bold, italic or underline.
Double click on one day in order to add an event, set the time limit, attendees, location and the name of the event. You can have events repeat during certain months or yearly. It also comes with the option to add an email or telephone number of the contact person.

More features and tools

The application comes with a feature that opens a Wikipedia page with all the important events that occurred on a certain day. You can set alerts to certain days or seconds.
It also supports text-to-speech options and it lets you adjust the speed of the voice. It comes with a feature that allows you to switch from multiple view types and you can print events easily.
All in all, Agenda is a neat and useful application for creating events and setting reminders so you wouldn't forget about them. However, it has some stability issues and it would have been nice if it had more features.
