Alarm-Clock

Alarm-Clock is a feather-light and portable application you can use to schedule an alarm clock to set up reminders and notifications. It includes several practical options that can be easily configured, even by those less experienced in such software.

Set up an alarm clock and audio alert

The interface is user-friendly, made from a small window with a simple design and layout, where you can view an analog and digital clock, as well as use the built-in file browser to locate and assign an audio track as the alarm sound.
It's possible to shut down, restart or log off the PC, show a personalized message, load the screensaver, enter sleep mode, minimize all windows, as well as to launch Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Excel, Wordpad or Notepad, among others.

Customize program preferences

Furthermore, you can change the date and time, make the frame stay on top of other windows or minimize it to the systray to become non-intrusive, allow multiple instances, schedule programs to launch, and integrate the tool into the Windows autostart sequence, so that it runs by default every time you turn on your computer.

Portable application

It's not wrapped in a setup kit, so you can save the downloaded files anywhere on the disk or copy them to a USB flash drive, in order to run it on any PC with little effort. It doesn't need any DLLs or other components to run, create files on the disk without asking for permission, or add new entries to the system registry. However, it auto-updates a file to remember you settings on exit.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't come across any problems in our evaluation, since the tool didn't freeze, crash or show error messages. It left a small footprint on system performance, since it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.
Too bad that it hasn't been updated for a long time. Other than that, Alarm-Clock comes loaded with some handy options to help you set up an alarm clock and schedule audio files to play, programs to launch, and the computer to power off.
