Alpha Clock Description
Windows comes with a variety of features to both display useful information about different areas of interest and provide necessary basic editing tools. The clock is an important feature, which can be set to display time for any zone. Moreover, you can use applications like Alpha Clock to place a small clock directly on the desktop.
Can be used on the go
Requiring no installation whatsoever, the application is good to go from the moment download is done. Moreover, it can easily fit on a thumb drive in case you want to carry it around and use on other computers besides your own. In this case portability also means that registry entries remain intact during use.
It might take a while to identify the clock on your desktop, but this is mostly because of the compact size, and position it shows up in. Luckily, you’re free to move it around to any suitable position, but on the downside, size can’t be adjusted which is rather frustrating.
Preset themes and customization options
However, the application does come with a variety of customization options. These are accessed from the context menu and preset schemes include a variety of different colors to use for the clock. You can also bring up the customization window in order to manually pick colors, background, and set transparency level.
Time is based on the one configured on your computer. If you depend on the small application it can be easily made to run with windows to have it ready by the time you reach the desktop. Display options can either be set to military time format, or universal time which is basically UTC.
To sum it up
In conclusion, Alpha Clock is a small, cool addition to the desktop. It comes with a decent variety of preset color schemes, as well as the possibility to manually choose display colors. The only inconvenience here is the lack of option to adjust size.
