Anvil's Storage Utilities Description
Anvil's Storage Utilities is a lightweight application developed specifically for helping you perform benchmark tests for assessing the performance of a solid-state drive (SSD) or hard disk drive.
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry. You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to test the performance of your SSD or hard disk drive on the breeze.
This tool gives you the possibility to monitor the read and write speed, and gather details about the system using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), such as information about disk drives, partitions, logical disks, volumes, and others.
Anvil's Storage Utilities sports a clean and straightforward layout that gives users the possibility to start a new benchmark test by selecting the drive and test size.
The application lets you opt for a standard SSD benchmark test that collects information about the read and write performance of the drive, or only threaded I/O benchmark tests (sequential and random operations). Additionally, the tool features an “Endurance†testing mode which is built for helping you test a drive’s lifespan.
When it comes to configuring the settings, the program comes packed with many dedicated parameters that meet the requirements of experienced users. It is possible to perform MD5 tests for checking the data integrity of drives, set up the Iometer parameters, pick the compression level, as well as specify the average number of read and write I/O operations per second.
What’s more, you can view details about the IOPS (Input/Ouput Operations Per Second) number, which changes its value according to read and write operations, sequential and random access pattern, queue depth, and others.
Other important features comprised in this tool let you copy the results to the Clipboard, and take screenshots which can be saved to JPEG or PNG file format.
All in all, Anvil's Storage Utilities bundles a handy set of parameters for helping you test the performance of a solid-state drive or hard disk drive, and is suitable especially for advanced users.
