APrintDirect is a clear-cut software utility that lets you print all file information from given directories. It comes in handy to those who want to reorganize files on their computer or prepare reports to reinstall Windows, for example. The app supports advanced settings for data filtering.

Simple setup and interface

After a fast and uneventful setup operation, you are welcomed by a standard window that contain an Explorer-based folder structure to help you navigate disk directories and select a target.

Customize file columns and sort files

You can choose the file columns you want to take into account for the printing operation, by including or excluding the display and type name, size, path, level, attributes, short name, file extension and owner, along with the data of creation and last access.
Plus, files can be sorted by one of these fields, either in ascending or descending order, while subfolders can be included or excluded from the task.

Apply file filters to narrow down print details

It's possible to indicate a file name or owner, as well as to exclude files with specific attributes: archive, system, hidden, indexed, directory, read only, encrypted, none, or compressed. You can also specify the minimum or maximum file size (in Kb), together with a starting and end date (of creation, last modification or last access).

Customize the report look, print and export data to file

The appearance of the file report can be customized when it comes to the font type and size, report type (list or indented) and column widths: display and type name, path, level, size, attributes, short name, file extension, date, and owner.
Before printing the file report, you can preview it or save it as a local file (Rave Snapshot NDR, Native Printer PRN, or Adobe Acrobat PDF). Multiple copies can be made. Another option is to export the file list as a tab-delimited text document, HTML web page, or comma-delimited CSV file.

Evaluation and conclusion

The application worked smoothly throughout our evaluation, without triggering the OS to hang, crash or prompt error messages. It left a small footprint on system resources, using low CPU and RAM.
All in all, APrintDirect provides you with an approachable and fast method to creating and printing file lists, backed by advanced filters and customization options for reports. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for a really long time.
