Auto Cleaner Description
Auto Cleaner is a lightweight piece of software that can automatically empty the Windows temporary folder contents every 24 hours. It gives you the possibility to change the frequency with ease.
No setup required, besides .NET Framework
The entire program's packed in a single executable file that can be saved to a custom directory on the disk or copied to a removable storage unit, in order to directly launch it on any computer with minimum effort.
It doesn't change system registry settings. However, it auto-creates and updates an .ini configuration file to remember your settings on exit. Moreover, you must have .NET Framework installed, since it was developed with the aid of this platform.
Integration with the systray
Once fired up, Auto Cleaner starts removing items from the system temporary directory immediately. It creates an icon in the taskbar notifications area to provide quick access to its options while enabling you to continue with your typical desktop activity with minimal intrusion.
By opening the right-click menu, you can perform a cleaning job on the spot, disable balloon notifications, as well as integrate the tool into the Windows autostart sequence to run by default every time you turn on the machine. By opening the .ini file, it's possible to modify the auto cleanup frequency by specifying a new number of hours.
Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly in our tests, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error messages. CPU and RAM usage was low, so it didn't hamper the machine's performance or interfere with the runtime of other running processes.
On the other hand, the utility doesn't have richer features or customization preferences for experienced users looking for tinker with the cleanup operation. Nevertheless, Auto Cleaner delivers a straightforward solution for automatically cleaning up your Windows temporary folder.
