AutoRunnerX Description
AutoRunnerX is a straightforward piece of software that lets you schedule any applications to open as soon as a pen drive or external hard disk is attached to the computer. It comes loaded with just a few intuitive options and configuration settings that should be easy to figure out by anyone.
Simple setup and interface
The installation procedure is a fast and easy job that requires minimal attention. AutoRunnerX is wrapped in a user-friendly interface, represented by a small window with a classical appearance.
You can indicate files or entire folders with files to open as soon as an external removable unit is inserted into the PC, as well as customize several settings.
Customize program settings easily
The app can open in a normal, minimized or maximized window, and you can also create a link to the desktop along with an entry in the Windows Explorer context menu ("Send to.." submenu), view extra details concerning the trigger file, command and starting location, as well as add any other commands.
The list can be populated with as many objects as you want. Plus, you can edit their properties and remove any entries from the list. All changes are applicable with the click of a button.
Evaluation and conclusion
We have not come across any difficulties throughout our tests, thanks to the fact that AutoRunnerX did not hang, crash or display error dialogs. It is very responsive to commands and leaves a small footprint on system resources (as expected), thanks to the fact that it needs low CPU and memory to function normally.
To conclude, AutoRunnerX may not be as feature-rich as you'd expect, but it offers a straightforward solution to setting any files to open or apps to launch as soon as an external mass storage device is plugged into the workstation.
