BackUpAnyWhere Description

It’s always a good idea to keep an extra copy of important files on your computer, because you never know when data gets corrupted, or other unexpected events. For thumb drives, applications like BackUpAnyWhere help you automate the process of securing all files on the drive to a local folder.

Needs to be launched from the source drive

First off, the application requires no installation, and in order to properly function, you need to place it, and run it from the USB flash drive you want to back up. There’s no need to worry about the target PC getting affected, because registries remain intact, with only a simple copy operation put in motion.
All the application has to offer is stored in a compact main window, with descriptions in a dedicated panel so you know what needs to be done, and how. The first time it runs, you need to change the target directory where files are saved, with the application remembering your choice for later use.

Good, but far from being a pro

However, navigating through the built-in tree list of folders can be a little difficult, but you do get a chance to create a new folder wherever you see fit. Dragging a folder over the main window has no effect, and only one location can be selected for the operation.
With the folder selected, all that’s left to do is to initiate the backup process. Unfortunately, it can take a bit more time than manually copying through Windows default features, and since it is only a copy process, this has an impact on overall practicality.
As mentioned above, the source folder is remembered on quit. This means you only need to initiate the process for future backups. Luckily, there’s also a dedicated function which starts it immediately, for less effort on your behalf.

To end with

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that BackUpAnyWhere doesn’t really bring anything new on the block, and the speed of the whole operation leaves more to be desired. Even so, flexibility is a plus, since you need to run it from the source drive, and even automate the process for one-click backup.
