Beyond CHM is a powerful software program designed for Windows that allows users to read HTML help files (CHM format) and edit them as well.
It sports intuitive and familiar editing options that shouldn't be difficult to figure out, regardless of the user's previous experience with such apps.

Rapid setup and user-friendly UI

Installing Beyond CHM takes minimal time and effort. Its interface is clean and intuitive, represented by a normal window split into two main sections, for viewing the table of contents and performing searches, as well as editing content, respectively.

Examine the table of contents

CHM files can be opened with the help of the file browser, since the drag-and-drop feature is not supported. All you have to do is select an entry from the table of contents, view content and edit it using regular formatting tools.

Edit text and modify formatting attributes

For example, it is possible to change the font type and size, highlight text, change its color and alignment, as well as insert or remove bullet points. A search function is put at your disposal to locate specific keywords faster.
In addition, you can undo your actions, switch to full screen mode, customize the toolbar and change the application look by selecting another UI theme. Modifications can be overwritten to the original CHM file or saved to a new one.

Evaluation and conclusion

As expected, Beyond CHM leaves a small footprint on system resources, since it uses low CPU and memory. There were no kind of issues in our tests, as the app did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. Thanks to its intuitive interface and options, Beyond CHM can be handled even by novice users. Its limited set of features does not account for its price, though.
