Characters on a computer are dictated by various elements, depending on where they’re used. For instance, bitmap fonts are mainly used in design projects to provide the variety and style you need, but it can be pretty difficult to use them. As such, Bitmap Font Writer helps you generate text using custom bitmap fonts.

Write or paste the source text

Once setup is over, you can go ahead and see what the application is all about. A pretty simple window shows up on launch, and effort required on your behalf for accommodation is minimum. A couple sections are there to help write the desired text, while the other provides the preview with the selected bitmap font.
Unfortunately, the source text needs to either be manually written inside the dedicated section, or pasted, because there’s no possibility to import it from an existing text file, not even a plain one. The preview area doesn’t update in real-time, so you need to hit the text generate button to get the result.

Only one default bitmap font provided

There aren’t really any text customization options. However, the bitmap font used in the process is the one which dictates the visual style of output. Only one bitmap font is found within the application set of features, but there is the possibility to load any other bitmap font, as long as it’s found under the BMP format.
The application offers several behavior options. For instance, the settings panel allows you to adjust the distance between characters and their size, and whether or not to have them placed on a transparent background. Alignment options make it easy to adjust how text is displayed, while export lets you save the result as a BMP file to use in other projects.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Bitmap Font Writer is not the type of application to use to enhance the writing style in instant conversations, but it can provide a means of inserting cool font writing inside different design projects.
