Blank And Secure is a small-sized, portable utility developed to securely erase files from your system, in an effort to prevent unauthorized users from recovering sensitive data via specialized software.
As installation is not a requirement, you can drop the executable file anywhere on the hard disk and click it to run. There is also the possibility of moving Blank And Secure to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any workstation.
What's more, the Windows Registry area is not updated with new entries, and leftovers do not remain on the hard disk after eliminating Blank And Secure.
The utility is wrapped in a plain and simple GUI, consisting of a single window, where the WYSIWYG principle clearly applies, since there are no other options available, aside from the ones shown in the primary panel.
Files and folders can be loaded in the list of items up for deletion using the drag-and-drop support. Batch processing is featured, so Blank And Secure is capable to removing multiple items at once, but you can only insert one entry into the queue at a time.
If you change your mind about a particular file, make sure to exit Blank And Secure and restart it, as there is no option to remove entries from the list or to clear it entirely (which can be easily mistaken for the Delete button).
It is possible to carry out a normal deletion task or make Blank And Secure fill the free space with null, just to add an extra layer of security regarding data retrieval software. Furthermore, you can enable the tool to overwrite items once or exit when the task is done, as well as specify a deletion delay time. Log details are shown on the bottom part of the screen.
