BlazeDVD Description
BlazeDVD is a media player that is compatible with various formats, including AVI, ASF, MPG, MPEG, SWF, MOV, DVD, RM and RMVB.
The user interface of the software is familiar, but its buttons could have been a little larger. You can play DVDs, open playlists, and even record video and play images as a slideshow.
In Options you can configure the default DVD drive, enable autoplay and autorun, select default language (for audio, subtitle and menu), configure auto resume play mode, and enable auto updates.
Furthermore, you can select video mode and quality, enable hardware acceleration, On Screen Display, switch to full screen mode during play, change audio output setting and record type, set auto split file size and the output destination for the converted files.
In addition, you can enable parental control by adding a password, change the interface's appearance, select chapters, capture a snapshot, use color control (brightness, contrast, HUE, saturation), zoom in and out, and more.
We tested BlazeDVD by loading several videos of different formats. It failed only once, when it tried to open a RM file. Otherwise, the image and sound quality turned out tobe very good. Also, if you add files by drag and drop, make sure to stop the current video from playing, or else it doesn't work.
BlazeDVD proves to be a reliable application for playing various video formats, and it does so by using a moderate amount of system resources. We definitely recommend it.
