Bookwrite is an easy-to-use application that comes in handy to everyone who wants to create short novels or books with numerous chapters in a simple way. It provides a fullscreen editor without any nuisances to let you completely focus on your work.

Write books and novels with ease

The installation takes little time and effort, and doesn't require any additional components in order to run. The tool is wrapped in a plain and clean interface, divided into a working area and the function and chapter panels.

No support for other text formats (DOC, RTF)

The app offers support only for its specific file format (BW). However, you have the option to save the project as a plain text book. Plus, all the chapters can be stacked into a single document or generated in individual files.

Change the look of the background and text

The only way to input text is either by manually typing in your thoughts or by copying and pasting content from another source. The composition can be personalized with font type, color and size. However, text can't be wrapped to the window or aligned to a specific position.

Lack of more detailed story elements

Compared with similar book editors, Bookwrite doesn't come with options to insert images to describe the plot better. We would have also liked features dedicated to character development to structure the story better.

Poor support for exporting files

It would've been nice if the tool let you insert sub-nodes to the main chapter and organize the book's structure into a tree system. Last but not least, it could've been a great addition if you were able to save the project as an e-book, MOBI, PDF or RTF file.

Rudimentary book creator

Taking everything into account, Bookwrite is a basic piece of software designed to offer simple means to create short novels or multi-chaptered books and save them as a TXT document. The lack of essential customization and management features makes the app impractical to average users.
