Build An Atom Description

Build An Atom is a small software application whose purpose is to help you build up an atom with the aid of protons, neutrons, and electrons, and learn about its mass, charge, structure, and nomenclature. This simulation tool is Java-based so you need to install the working environment on the target computer in order to be able to make use of the program’s capabilities.

Portable running mode

The utility is portable so you can drop it on pen drives or other similar devices to take it with you all the time. No administrative privileges are needed for running it. It can be opened directly from the storage device.
The interface of the program can be activated with no effort. A double-click on the executable file is sufficient. In case you no longer consider it useful, you may uninstall it by deleting the EXE file that you have grabbed from the Internet. It does not create additional entries in your Windows registry.

Interacting with the GUI

Build An Atom sports an interactive design where you can simulate the construction of atoms. It shows three baskets which are filled with protons, neutrons, and electrons. In order to build atoms you need to drag and drop the target item (proton, neutron, or electron) in the workspace. The workspace can be personalized with the aid of two different types of modes, namely orbits or cloud.
You cannot consult a help manual to read more about the simulation process so you need to experiment a little bit with the dedicated parameters to get an idea about how the tool works.

Learn more about atoms

As soon as you add protons, neutrons, and electrons in the main window, the application is able to detect the output atom. It also comes packed with a periodic table and automatically highlights the current element in the table.
Other important options worth being mentioned enable you to check out details about the constructed atom like symbol, mass number, and charge, as well as show or hide the name of the element, ions, and stable or unstable status. All configuration settings can be reset with a single click.
Last but not least, the utility gives you the possibility to improve your knowledge about atoms by playing a game. You can choose between different levels of difficulty, enable or disable sound notifications, and turn off or on a timer. You need to find a certain element in the periodic table based on its representation on orbits. The app keeps track of your score and lets you know if the answers are correct or wrong.
Tests have pointed out that Build An Atom carries out simulation tasks quickly. It is quite friendly with system resources so the overall performance of the system is not affected.

Final words

To sum things up, Build An Atom comes in handy especially for carrying out simulations so you can find out details about atoms in a fun way. It is ideal for students who are learning chemistry because they can even play games.
