Calculator Description
There’s a high chance you encounter math on a daily basis, be it for budget calculus, measuring, or who knows what else. In case these operations need to be performed on a computer, you benefit from a whole variety of math tools. For instance, Calculator helps you calculate basic expressions, aiming to be an easier alternative to the homonymous tool Windows provides.
Can be used on the go
A cool advantage given its core purpose is portability. This makes it possible to carry it around on a thumb drive and use on other computers without having to go through the steps of an installer. But before all works out as planned, it’s best to check whether or not the PC you use it on is fitted with .NET Framework.
Truth be told, the visual design isn’t really something to be called appealing, or even close. Everything is kept inside a simple window frame, with several value fields you need to fill in, as well as four buttons representing the operators. Additionally, you can choose to reset everything for a new operation.
Leaves much to be desired
There are no numerical buttons inside the interface, so all input needs to come from the keyboard. You can only process two integers at a time. After writing down the values, the operator needs to be selected, which can only be sum, difference, multiplication, or division. Sadly, this counts as a pretty poor experience.
The only chance the application shows any signs of practicality is for processing large numbers. You need to copy the result on the spot, because they’re not saved on the long run. In case you do find it handy, assigning a hotkey command to its shortcut allows you to run it from any computer location.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Calculator isn’t really what you expect to find in an application with the given name. The set of operators is pretty poor, while the method of approach leaves much to be desired overall.
