Checksum Calculator Description
Checksum Calculator is a software tool you can use to calculate the MD5, SHA1 and CRC32 hashes of multiple files at the same time. It also contains an option for comparing hashes, in order to find out whether two files are identical or different.
The program can not only be handled by experienced users, but also by beginners.
Hassle-free installer and clear-cut GUI
Setting it up takes little time and effort, thanks to the fact that there are no special options, software requirements, or third-party offers involved.
Concerning the interface, Checksum Calculator has a normal window with two panes for single and bulk file operations, whose layout makes it easy to work with.
Calculate and compare hashes
For example, in single file mode, all you have to do is select a file and the checksum type between MD5, CRC32 and SHA1, and ask the utility to perform the calculations.
The result is immediately displayed in the main window and can be copied or matched against another pasted hash, in order to compare the two corresponding files.
When it comes to batch operations, you can add multiple selected files or indicate folders to process all containing files. In this case, results can be saved to file. It's also possible to compare all results amongst each other.
Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly in our evaluation, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or prompt errors. Calculations were made swiftly while the application remained light on system resources usage.
To sum it up, Checksum Calculator provides you with a simple and straightforward means of identifying the MD5, CRC32 and SHA1 signatures of one or more files at the same time, as well as for comparing them to verify file integrity. It's free for non-commercial use. No recent updates have been made, though.
