Clipboard Viewer

The Windows clipboard is a pretty useful tool, even though you can’t really see it. Even so, it can only hold one item by default, which might be a frustrating limitation in some particular cases. On the bright side of things, there are various enhancements in this regard, just like Clipboard Viewer.

Mostly useful for handling text

Once setup is over, the application is automatically launched, creating a corresponding tray icon, and also bringing up the management window. It’s wrapped around a custom-made design, which neatly blends in any environment, while also automatically becomes transparent when not in focus. It’s also possible to have it minimized when not directly used.
The application is capable of capturing more than just text, but you’re not able to do anything with files, or even pictures, to your disadvantage. However, the icon of the source program is shown alongside the string, and a text preview as well. You can interact with clipboard items to view content, but again, only text generates a preview.

Option to save text strings to file

Unfortunately, you can’t assign hotkey commands for particular buffer options to paste specific strings. It can take a bit of time to sent an item to clipboard from the application, because you have to scroll through the entire list. It would have been useful to see a search function for quick identification of items.
You can clear the entire list from the program context menu, or only one item at a time. In case you’re working with text, it’s possible to have all strings saved to file. Minimizing the window can be done to taskbar or the tray area, but there’s no hotkey command to quickly have it brought back up.

A few last words

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Clipboard Viewer is a cool tool to have around, especially if you need to handle multiple text string in a short time, and multiple documents. Although you can’t process files in the same way, it’s a clear enhancement to the default clipboard tool.
