Although not directly visible, the Windows clipboard is one of the features that make computer use extremely comfortable. Just imagine having to write down a URL into a different place, without the possibility to copy it directly. However, there are certain specialized applications like ClipClipper which aim to extend the functionality of the clipboard.

Organize clips in custom groups

Most of the time, the application quietly sits in the system tray and records all text you copy. Multiple records are saved, with the possibility to access them from the tray icon menu, but there’s also the option to bring up the main menu for better management of all entries.
For instance, the application lets you create multiple groups, just in case you frequently need to use specific text strings or paragraphs. This goes hand in hand with the option to add new entries on the list, without using the copy function, but simply writing or pasting text in a requirement field. You can also move items between groups.

Protect important items and change tags

Everything that’s stored in the application gets formatted, so when pasting, only regular text is inserted. On the other hand, you’re free to customize how text is shown inside the clipboard with different styles and size specifications, but this does not affect how text is inserted in other documents or fields.
To prevent accidental loss if items on the list, there’s the possibility to lock a selection of entries. In addition, the application lets you set a custom tag for each item, just to make it easier to identify items of interest when the database gets overwhelmed. Sadly, there’s no option to configure hotkeys, which means you’re stuck with default ones, and you need to select the item prior to pasting.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that ClipClipper manages to live up to expectations and provides a neat extension to the default clipboard. You can organize all items in different groups, and although there’s no possibility to configure hotkeys for more comfort, the application is worth a try overall.
