cloudtag Description

We've said it a dozen times by now, and we're also aware that you know that sharing files between devices is now easier than ever thanks to a plethora of file-sharing web tools or other types of cloud storage and messaging apps.
It's almost impossible to determine exactly which one of these services or various apps can actually take the crown for being the fastest or the easiest, but we have a feeling that, if a competition on such basis were to take place, cloudtag might be one of the top contenders.
cloudtag is a practical, Electron-based piece of software that makes it extremely easy (and you can take our word for it on this one) for you to share files with your colleagues, friends, and family using your Windows or Linux PCs or a Mac, within the same network.

Swift and "open" solution for file sharing

Straightforwardness is the word that best describes all aspects of cloudtag, starting with the way it looks and ending with the way it can be handled by even the most novice of users. Getting everything in place to use cloudtag does not require much effort on your part. The installation is as simple as they get and the app does not even require an account or administrator rights to function.
Here's how it works: launch cloudtag, drag and drop a file from its location onto the app's main window and enter a hashtag. Once the file has finished uploading, the hashtag will be locked for 300 seconds. At this point, your friend only needs to enter the same hashtag within its own instance of cloudtag and drag the file outside the interface.

Intuitive procedure for uploading and downloading files

There's also another way of sharing files with users, although, we should point out that it did not show much promise during our tests. Once you upload a file, right next to the hashtag field you will see a typical "copy" button.
Click it, and the app automatically copies a direct download link to your computer's clipboard that you can be used within any modern browser in order to download the file. This is a good time to point out that you can also send bulkier files as well. Basically, if you upload a folder, the app automatically compresses it a ZIP archive. Last but not least, your file will be preserved on the cloudtag servers for at least 15 minutes.

An efficient file-sharing app built with web technologies and with an interesting concept behind it

As an ending note, there's no denying cloudtag's simplicity and user-friendliness. The app is incredibly easy to install and to use and, without a doubt, it offers you one of the quickest ways to share files. Be that as it may, we're not quite sure about the security part but, just as long as you don't share very important secret files, everything should be fine and dandy.
