Concatenate Description
With the variety of activities one can perform on a daily basis, some tasks, items, or other stuff might need to be enlisted in an organized manner. In this regard, Concatenate gives you the possibility to easily generate list of automatically numbered items according to a set of rules you define.
Up to three different counters
On the visual side of things, accommodation takes a little while, letting individuals of all levels of experience get acquainted in the blink of an eye. You need to switch through several tabs in order to specify general setup of columns, and counters, field tags, as well as container, and whether or not to print to file.
Depending on the depth of info you want to add to the list, the application can be used to create up to three different sets of counters. A single column allows you to use two fields, while the rest of the two counters only enable one extra field each. Even so, this can generate quite a large list, and you might have to test out a few parameter combinations before you get the one you need.
Easily configure counter parameters, and fields
Each counter enables its own set of counting rules to be configured in the setup tab. A counter can either be alphabetic, or numerical, count upwards or downwards, with more fields to configure starts and end values, counter ratio in the form of steps, and whether or not it’s a padded counting, which lets you specify frequency if enabled.
Output is always a CTF file, and you’re asked for a save name and location once hitting the create button. Although the browse dialog doesn’t let you change the extension, you can manually do this to enable simple preview in your default text browser.
As mentioned above, counters and fields need to be carefully managed. For instance, item counting starts from the last field to the first. What this means that once the last counter reaches the end value, the second counter moves to the next value, while the first remains unchanged, and the third starting over. Only when the second counter reaches the end value does the first go to the second number.
A few last words
To sum it up, Concatenate is a straightforward application with which you can create large lists, with up to three different counters. Although method of counting and combining counters can’t be handled, it can easily be used to create large structures of tasks, or lists with multiple items.
