Crossfading Output Description
Crossfading Output is a lightweight audio plugin developed specifically for helping you apply crossfade effects between audio tracks. The audio plugin works exclusively with Winamp so you cannot employ it with other audio software tools.
There are many plugins available out there on the market. They all share the same goal: to enhance Winamp’s overall functionality. Crossfading Output is just a small one in the crowd that lets you handle a large collection of audio files on the fly.
How it works
Deploying the audio plugin on your computer proves to be a piece of cake. Crossfading Output is able to automatically detect the folder where Winamp is installed. In case it does not identify the directory correctly, you are allowed to specify the target path.
You can get access to the audio plugin’s setup options via Winamp’s Preferences panel, more specifically the ‘Plug-ins’ section. A help manual is not included in the package so you need to experiment a little bit with the dedicated parameters in order to get an idea about how the audio plugin works.
You are given the possibility to select the WaveOut device from a drop-down list, set the default buffer size in milliseconds, configure thread priority (e.g. normal, higher) by simply moving the built-in slider, disable gaps on ‘Stop’ or ‘Next,’ as well as adjust the pre-buffering mode.
Other important options worth being mentioned enable you to set the size of the block in samples, reverse balance control, enable volume control, as well as check out a set of recommended configuration parameters displayed directly in the main window.
Tests have pointed out that Crossfading Output carries out tasks quickly. It remains light on system resources so the overall performance of the PC is not hampered. On the downside, it has not been updated for a long time so you may bump into all sorts of bugs.
Final ideas
All in all, Crossfading Output comes packed with several handy options for helping you enable crossfade effects between audio tracks, and can be tweaked by less experienced users and professionals alike.
