DesktopZoom Description
DesktopZoom is a lightweight screen zooming solution that provides plenty of configuration options and just a basic interface to interact with all its users.
It’s almost impossible to get lost in the program’s GUI and it’s all because of the simple design, with three different options at your disposal: you can zoom around mouse, a fixed window or the entire desktop.
Depending on your choice, there are several configurable parameters, such as zoom level, zoom control options, tracking, colors and mouse settings.
While DesktopZoom works like a charm on most Windows workstations, there are some compatibility issues on Windows 7, as the application turns off the Aero effects and runs slowly when zooming in or out.
The good thing however is that it provides easy to use zooming control and you can adjust the magnification level using either the mouse wheel or the keyboard arrows. While zooming the full screen, a thumbnail in the right bottom corner is also displayed as a quick preview of the screen.
DesktopZoom doesn’t need advanced computer knowledge to be used at full throttle and a help manual is not even available to lend a hand to beginners looking for more information.
All things considered, DesktopZoom is a handy project, but it clearly needs a lot of improvements to work flawlessly on all Windows versions. What’s more, a more user-friendly and straightforward interface is mandatory, just to make sure rookies figure out how to take the most out of each feature with minimum effort.
