DimScreen

DimScreen is a program with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to dim the brightness level of your screen. It can be easily installed and configured, even by inexperienced users.
This type of tool should come in handy the moment you spend endless hours in front of your computer to work or read;l a lower level of brightness helps with the eye vision.
This is a portable piece of software. So, you can store DimScreen on a USB flash drive or any other storage device, save it to any computer and directly run its executable file.
Thus, you can always have DimScreen with you when you're on the move. What's more important is the fact that the Windows Registry is not updated with new entries and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal.
Once initialized, DimScreen places an icon in the system tray area and automatically dims the brightness to 50% of its original value. By accessing the right-click menu, you can change it to a preset value, ranging from 0% to 90%. The program includes an options screen from where you can establish the startup dimming, along with the hotkeys for increasing or decreasing the brightness level of the desktop.
The straightforward software solution runs on a very low amount of CPU and system memory, so it shouldn't be a concern for the computer's resources. It is very responsive to commands and immediately applies changes to the screen. No error dialogs have popped up during our tests and DimScreen did not freeze or crash. However, the app has not been updated for a while.
