Directory Linker Description
Directory Linker is a lightweight application that you can use to easily put together symbolic directory links. It contains an intuitive set of options that can be handled by all types of users, even those less experienced with such software.
No setup required, besides .NET Framework
The entire program's wrapped in a single executable file that you can save to any part of the hard disk or copy to a USB flash drive to run it on any computer with minimum effort.
However, you must have .NET Framework installed, since it was built with the aid of this platform. On the other hand, it doesn't create new entries in the Windows registry or other files on the disk without your permission. Administrative rights are necessary.
Simple interface for creating symbolic links
When it comes to the interface, Directory Linker has a standard window with a neatly organized structure. All options are made visible and they can be easily put in motion.
You can get started by creating the target link by indicating a saving directory. In the following step, it's possible to specify the location to connect it to, as well as instruct the tool to overwrite the target files or delete the links when encountering same link conflicts, depending on your preferences. There are no other notable options provided by this app.
Evaluation and conclusion
It created links swiftly in our tests while using a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it didn't hamper the system's performance. We haven't come across any stability issues, as it didn't freeze, crash or prompt error messages.
Although it has a small set of options, Directory Linker offers a straightforward solution for generating symbolic links for directories, and it can be handled with ease. Plus, it's free for non-commercial use.
