DSD Plugin for Winamp is a simple to use extension for the popular multimedia player, which allows it to render special audio files, that are not generally supported. With this plugin, Winamp can play files from Super Audio CDs, which are stored in a specific DSD format.

Render files from SACD

SACD or Super Audio CDs is a read-only disc designed especially for audio storage and is created as an advanced compact disc. The SACD supports storing several separate audio channels and features a longer playing capability.
The files on such discs are stored in DSD format, or Direct Stream Digital, a technology that permits a greater dynamic range and frequency response than the regular CD. While the SACD files are not natively supported by audio players, DSD Plugin for Winamp allows the program to render them.
With this plugin, Winamp can play DSD files in two formats, namely DSF and DFF, just as any other audio track stored on your computer.

Copy the plugin and play your music

Using DSD Plugin for Winamp is as simple as it gets. You need to copy the DLL file to the folder in which Winamp is installed on your computer, to the Plugins subfolder. The path is usually C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins.
Once this step is completed, you need to open/restart Winamp, add the DSF or DFF files to the playlist and enjoy listening to them.
