Easy 7-Zip

7-Zip is one of the most popular compression apps that is widely used throughout the world due to its handy features and intuitive interface. However, there are several third-party apps who aim to improve its functionality even further, such as Easy 7-Zip.
The software utility installs without any issues and those familiar with 7-Zip can easily recognize its familiar interface, as well as the menus it adds to the context menu of Windows Explorer. They also support the same formats, namely 7z, ZIP, RAR, DMG, CAB, TAR, DEB, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MSI, NSIS and many others.
Nonetheless, there are some tweaks here and there, which are meant to make Easy 7-Zip more user-friendly compared to the app it was inspired by.
For starters, the aforementioned menus added within the right-click menu of Windows Explorer are accompanied by icons, which can help users easily locate the function they are looking for.
Additionally, when extracting the contents of an archive file, users can check a box so that the target folder is accessed as soon as the files are extracted. Furthermore, Easy 7-Zip also displays the amount of free space on the destination drive which can come in handy when the processed files are very large.
Another change compared to 7-Zip is that Easy 7-Zip uses the same output folder history for all Extract windows, no matter if they are launched from the Extract function of the main window or from the context menu.
Moreover, when processing large files, be it for compression or extraction, Easy 7-Zip can not only be sent to the background (just like 7-Zip does), but it also adds a new icon in the system tray where users can monitor the overall progress of the task.
All in all, Easy 7-Zip provides some useful functions compared to the original 7-Zip, and since it is open source as well, users can give it a try without any restrictions.
