Fathom

Fathom profiles, cleanses, and standardizes source data files. It streamlines the format-discovery process and enables users to rapidly transform data into a more usable form without having to resort to time-consuming ETL or database manipulations. By utilizing a rich set of contextual data elements, Fathom is capable of recognizing, validating, and standardizing a wide range of general and healthcare-specific fields such as zip codes, ICD-9 and -10 diagnosis and procedure codes, and many others. This largely eliminates the need to write code to map and/or validate entries prior to database loads or consumption by an analytics engine. In addition, Fathoms profiling capabilities are designed to provide near-instantaneous insight into the nature and completeness of new files, regardless of size, by sampling a subset of the records (although profiling of the full file is possible as well). Field population rates, distinct value and row counts, examples of invalid entries, numerical statistics (min, max, mean, sum, etc.) and many other characteristics are shown for each file profiled. All the information needed to make a go/no-go decision on the data before committing to analytical processing, or for writing an import script for intake into a database, are quickly generated with the goal of accelerating the data-discovery process.
