The program is fairly simple to use, as you can choose the piano buttons to represent 'Keys' or 'Notes', allowing you to use whichever mode you prefer. Music Maker provides you with several pre-existing songs, that you listen to at the same time as you watch them progress on the screen. Soon, you will learn to associate a specific sound with the corresponding music note.
Moreover, Music Maker allows you to select one of several music instruments, such as 'Grand Piano', 'Guitar', 'Organ', 'Saxophone', 'Trumpet', 'Violin' or 'Xylophone', each with its distinguishing sound effects.
Music Maker even lets you record your own songs. You can do this by pressing the 'Record' button, then the keys or notes that make up your melody. You can set the playback speed to a level that best suits you, so if you are still learning, you can choose a lower speed, or a faster one if you are already more advanced.
You have the option of giving a title to the song you record, so it can be displayed in the drop-down menu, enabling you to listen to it later or re-play it. Similarly, you can save the generated notes to a RTF format file, that can be printed.
